SKY, WIND, MOON

The Sky –

Unfolds a road of black

Down which the pale dots ride

How long distant travelers

Until she wanders here

Into a place before my eyes?

The Wind –

Plays host to leafless arms

That reach for dawn’s earliest light

How long sad breath upon the trees

Until her low, sweet voice

Whispers a name that’s mine?

The Moon –

Wheels and harvests the sky

Brushing the dark with soft, quiet fire

How long one-millionth of a star

Until her illuminating discs

See a home inside my heart?

And You –

If I alone on all this earth

Had your love for one whole day

A perfect soul would scream in birth

And God would sweep

All these things away.
